Idea Pins are an evolution of Pinterest’s Story Pins, with a new name to better match its uniqueness. Starting today, creators will also have a suite of new publishing tools, including video features, new editing tools, and updates to make it easier to create Idea Pins. and more creative.
Creating an Idea Pin now includes:
- Video recording and editing up to 20 pages of content
- Voiceover recording so creators can add their own personal voice
- Musical selection by Epidemic Sound
- Ghost mode transition tools (great for before and after)
- Detail pages for instructions or ingredients
- Interactive elements like people tagging and stickers
- Save multiple drafts so creators can post more ideas
- Export options for sharing content beyond Pinterest
- Topic tagging, a posting feature that connects content to relevant interests
- The creator code – Pinterest’s content policy designed to make Pinterest a positive and inspiring place
Creators with early access to Idea Pins like Chef Kunal Kapur, Masoom Minawala, and Kritika khurana in India have already broadened their audience, with cooking tutorials on fun and easy Indian dishes, fashion ideas for what to wear for Holi, and cool beauty tutorials. Publishers like TimesOfIndia Food, ETimes Lifestyle and Femina India have also started using idea pins to inspire their audiences across a wide range of verticals including beauty, fashion, food and wellness.

To help creators grow their audiences, Pinterest is also giving users new ways to explore idea pins. Starting today, all users will see idea pins from creators they follow at the top of their home feed. The following feeds give users a new way to view new content from creators in more places, including Search, the Today tab, and top of creator profiles. Idea Pins will be displayed in this special full screen view, designed to engage and inspire Pinners.
For pinners, this means that ideas in a pin will be more engaging and actionable. In fact, Pinterest saw 9 times the average comment rate on Idea Pins compared to Standard Pins.
Pinterest introduces new Analytics updates to help creators know what content resonates with their audience. A new metric focused on subscribers and profile visits will show creators how their Idea Pins led to deeper engagement with their account. Pinterest has also made it easier to access other important engagement metrics like saves, comments, and reactions, all of which affect the distribution of creator content.
