Ree Drummond shares her “best green beans” recipe

During an episode of The pioneer woman show, Drummond explained why she thinks she can brag about this vegetarian side dish. “I call them the best green beans ever because they start with a little bacon fat,” she explained.

“I have to get the cowboys to eat their veg somehow and having some bacon fat is always a good way to do that,” Drummond added.

She heated the bacon fat in a skillet, then added the onions, peppers, and garlic, stirring and cooking them until softened and golden.

“I happen to love green beans and can eat them pretty much raw,” she explained. “I’ll eat them any way I can get them.” I don’t mind that they are steamed with no seasonings at all. Cowboys, they are not that easy when it comes to vegetables.

Drummond added rinsed and trimmed fresh green beans to the pan, seasoned them with salt and pepper, then added the chicken broth. “Now all I have to do is put the lid on, simmer for 20 minutes, and they’ll be ready,” she explained.

“I love this dish. It’s really my favorite way to make green beans, ”Drummond said. “They totally disappear, no matter how much I earn.”

Drummond wrote about his amazing green bean recipe on his blog

Drummond wrote about “deliciously simple green beans” in a 2008 Pioneer woman blog post.

She explained how plentiful green beans are during the summer months, but it often feels like there aren’t many different ways to prepare them.

“I love fresh green beans – also known as ‘green beans’ or ‘snap beans’ – and while they’re totally versatile, sometimes it’s hard to know what to do with other than just cook them in a pot of water, ”she said. wrote. “I love making crispy little babies in a skillet with delicious ingredients, allowing them to cook and become both colorful and lightly caramelized.”

She added, “For me, it brings out the natural culinary beauty of a green bean much more than letting it get soggy in a bunch of liquid.”

‘The Pioneer Woman’ star shared 1 pro tip for the best beans

In his blog post, Drummond passed on valuable advice for making his green bean recipe. When she covers the beans, she doesn’t do it tightly. “Important: put the heat on low / medium-low and cover with a lid, but CLOSE THE LID so that the steam escapes,” she writes. “Cook for 20 to 30 minutes until the liquid has evaporated completely and the beans are fairly soft, but still have a bit of bite. “

She added, “Don’t be afraid to let the chicken broth cook, because the onions and beans will start to caramelize, which means flavor-flavor-flavor!”

Drummond also noted the final taste and texture of the vegetable side dish. “The beans were well cooked but still slightly crispy, and the onions and red pepper were caramelized and lovely,” Drummond explained. “And the flavor of the bacon fat was definitely there.”
