Selena Gomez was ashamed of her sexualized album cover

Selena Gomez opened up about feeling sexualized after shooting an album cover that left her “ashamed”.

Gomez spoke during a panel discussion with The Hollywood Reporter where she was joined by other actresses including Amy Schumer, Bridget Everett, Molly Shannon, Quinta Brunson and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Near the end of the nearly hour-long interview, Schumer chimed in and praised the singer and actress for truly standing out throughout her career.

Schumer pointed out that Gomez “was sexualized at such a young age” and told the Only murders in the building star, “But you just rejected that and really found your own style and your own presence, because I know they put you in a system and made you feel like that’s the way you have to do it. , and especially when you’re getting positive feedback and people are attracted to you, it takes a long time to say, ‘I’m going to go that way.'”

She added, “I’m not an overly sexual person. Sometimes I like to feel sexy, but that doesn’t mean it’s for someone else, it can be for me.”

Gomez didn’t specifically reveal which album she was talking about, but Selenators quickly identified The comebackreleased in 2015, as Gomez is naked on the cover.

The Rare Beauty makeup mogul has already spoken with Seduce in October 2020 about feeling overly sexualized in regards to her second solo studio album.

“I just did things that weren’t really me,” she admitted. “There was pressure to sound more adult on my album, The comeback. I felt the need to show my skin…I really don’t think I was that person.”
