As someone with a cursed Type B personality with regular flares of Type A obsessive tendencies (or maybe the other way around), it’s all a battle of ambition and motivation against a deep desire to relax. Really, it’s like wearing a Birkenstock and a combat boot all the time. This half-in, half-outdoor vibe touches everything in my life, but it’s never more obvious than with makeup: I want to look neat and well-groomed, but the siren song from the sofa often thwarts my plans. for a full look.
Fortunately, there are many intermediate solutions. Lip and cheek multis can do more to create a makeup look than most other products in a pinch, especially if the colors are coordinated, matched, or complementary. And with so much emphasis on versatile, on-the-go products these days, there are plenty of top-notch makeup options to make you (and I) look lively and cheerful, but don’t require more than three minutes or so. any mirror.
If there is a season for a multi-use product, it is summer. Cream-based sticks and jars, whether available in a satin or gloss finish, work better with sun-inducing svitzing than their individual powder counterparts. While powders and dull products then break down cake from the first hint of excess moisture, creams work best with your sweat for a shiny pink appearance and at worst are absorbed into the skin – no harm, no fault. They’re especially great for any waterfront activity that you might want to look super cute for – even if you’re literally hit by a wave, there won’t be a glaring lack of makeup. when you finally get back to shore because the texture and colors are not that different from your skin.
For an even more foolproof tactic, use shades closest to your natural lip color when doing these kinds of things outdoors and no one will be any wiser – and you also won’t have to be so precious to reapply. perfectly not either. And just because the labels say the lips and cheeks doesn’t mean that’s where they need to stay, either. For more even color connectivity, I like to dab this same stick on my lips, cheeks, orbital bones, nose and chin for a slight sunburn-like effect – a real (almost) full face in one. single step.
Here, I put together some of my all-time favorite multi-purpose lip and cheek products for those days when you want to work out – but not too much, of course.
